We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming Staff Training Week on “Responsible Internationalization and Institutional Support for At-risk Scholars Access to Higher Education, Training, and Employment.”

There is no fee for participating in the Staff Training Week. However, participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation and travel costs.
Goals of the Training
- To raise awareness and critically discuss various aspects of responsible internationalization, especially in light of current geopolitical developments and European policies.
- To share experiences and best practices for implementing responsible internationalization policies at departmental and institutional levels.
- To promote core academic values, such as academic freedom, integrity, and responsibility, within a European and global context.
- To build a community of informed, responsible, and globally engaged scholars, research managers, and university administrators across the Utrecht Network.
Target Group
This training is designed for academic and administrative staff involved in (responsible) internationalization and global engagement at the university or departmental level, including:
- Junior Faculty engaged in international collaborations, academic freedom ombudspersons, and those supporting at-risk scholars.
- University Administrators such as policy advisors, heads of international offices, and managers involved in supporting at-risk scholars.
- At-risk Scholars who have been supported by UN member institutions as regional experts or guest speakers.
Program Overview
The detailed program will be announced soon. Key topics include:
- Task Force RIGE activities at UN member institutions.
- Implementation of academic freedom and responsibility on campus and in international partnerships.
- Support strategies for researchers at risk.
- Compliance with human rights and research security regulations in international cooperation.
The training will include plenary and group sessions. The working language is English.
Application Process & Fees
This event is supported by the Utrecht Network, and participation is free of charge. Participants are expected to cover their travel, accommodation, and dinners. Accommodation suggestions will be provided upon acceptance.
